After three weeks of cup action, Fulham Women returned to the league on Sunday with a trip to table-toppers Millwall Lionesses.
The U18s continued to be integrated into the squad, with goalkeeper Holly Cowan and forward Alex Hayman both named in the starting XI. Last weekend’s Player of the Match Tia Foreman made up the back line alongside captain Mary Southgate, Becky Stormer and Tessa Allen.
Fulham matched their strong opponents and took the lead after five minutes. Foreman provided the assist from a corner for birthday girl Annie Thomas to open the scoring.
Foreman claimed a goal of her own from a corner kick that was deflected into the back of the net, giving the Whites a two-goal lead at half-time.
Millwall did pull one back after the break, but the minor setback only spurred Steve Jaye’s side on.
After coming close to extending their lead multiple times, the third goal came when Georgia Heasman assisted Ede Buchele to seal the win against the previously unbeaten Millwall.
Fulham will hope to bring the same energy from their well-deserved win when they play Dulwich Hamlet at Motspur Park on Sunday.
