Midfielder becomes Women’s third new face of the summer
Burnley FC Women are delighted to confirm the signing of Isabella Reidford from Manchester United on a dual-registration basis.
The midfielder joins as the Claret Women’s third new signing under the management of Rebecca Sawiuk, as they get closer to the start of the FA Women’s National League North season.
Reidford has spent her career in the Red Devils youth system and captained their U21 side to the WSL Academy League Cup final last season against Chelsea, a game in which she scored.
The 20-year-old also holds caps for Wales at U17s and U19s, playing in UEFA Women’s European Championship qualifiers at both levels.
After completing her move to the Clarets, Reidford said: “I’m so excited to have dual signed with Burnley.
“Being a part of their ambition for promotion is something I’m happy to be involved in, and I hope that I can help to deliver on that ambition.”
Manager Sawiuk was equally as happy to get the deal over the line saying: “Bella joins us as captain of the Manchester United Academy side and her leadership qualities have shone through in pre-season.
“She is young, hungry, wants to learn and she is ready to compete in our squad and contribute towards our season objectives.
“Bella is brave in possession of the ball and tenacious out of possession so she will fit really well with our style of football.
“Already in a such a short amount of time I’ve seen her develop quickly so I think we have added a really talented young player to our group for this season and I’m looking forward to having her with us and working with her to help her progress.”
