Clarets travel down south to face Fulham in cup action

Burnley’s U21 side face Fulham on Friday evening at Motspur Park to continue their Premier League Cup action (7pm KO)

The Clarets opened their cup action with an impressive 4-3 away from home victory against Leicester City at the LCFC Training Ground.

In most recent cup action, Burnley shared points in a six-goal thriller against Brentford at Chorley FC’s Victory Park.

The visitors took an early lead through Nathan Young-Coombes, and he added another for the Bees after 40 minutes.

As the Clarets thought they were going into the break behind, Lewis Richardson pulled a goal back before Will Hugill netted the equaliser – and his first goal of the season – just before the half time whistle was blown.

Brentford went back in front on the hour mark through Ashley Hay, but Burnley bounced back once more, through Hugill again, to tie the game and ensure both sides came away with a point.

In Group G, the Clarets are place behind Friday opponents in second place. Fulham have started the competition with an impressive 6-1 win against Brentford, and more recently a 4-0 home victory against Leicester City.

Cottagers Imani Lanquedoc grabbed a brace to mark a full return to their U21 squad, and other goals from debutant Josh King and Luke Harris.

Burnley’s U21 side have most recently come off a 1-0 league win against Sheffield United, with Darko Churlinov finding the winner in the last minute of stoppage time.
