Injury updates from both the Clarets & the Hammers ahead of Saturday’s clash
Burnley
Manager Vincent Kompany confirmed on Thursday that midfielder Jack Cork will remain sidelined for Saturday’s meeting with the Hammers following a knock in training.
Following their respective long-term spells on the sidelines, Hjalmar Ekdal was an unused substitute on Sunday in Sweden’s 2-0 win over Estonia whilst Darko Churlinov featured for North Macedonia against Italy last week.
Striker Michael Obafemi made his first appearance this season against Arsenal prior to the international break following his injury picked up in the summer with Ireland.
West Ham United
Striker Michail Antonio will miss Saturday’s trip to Turf Moor after picking up a serious knee injury whilst on international duty with Jamaica last week.
Former Hull City forward Jarrod Bowen could also miss the weekend’s clash, after departing the Three Lions’ squad over the international break because of a knock which England boss Gareth Southgate confirmed he ‘didn’t want to risk’.
Midfielder Tomas Soucek picked up a nasty cut to the head and was treated twice during Czech Republic’s EURO Qualifier with Poland last week but the former Slavia Prague man should be fit for the trip north.
