LOAN VIEW: JACK TURNER

This week’s ‘Loan View’ sees us catch up with defender Jack Turner who is on loan with Hyde United

Jack Turner is relishing the experience of being out on loan and getting a feel for men’s team football environment as the defender is spending the 2023/24 campaign with Hyde United.

Turner joined the Clarets in September last year from Barking and has been a regular feature for the U21s side since arriving at Turf Moor from Essex.

The towering centre-back has spent the last few months with Hyde alongside Burnley teammate Sam Waller and the 19-year-old is making the most of his loan spell with the Tigers.

Speaking to Burnleyfootballclub.com, Turner explained: “It’s really good to be here, for sure. It’s being around the environment of a men’s team.

“It’s much different to U21s football. Being around senior players is great for someone my age to learn from them as they have played in the football league and you can learn things from them.

“I still train at Burnley through the week and being around top Premier League players is great for me but being actually involved and playing with the senior lads at Hyde can only benefit me on and off the pitch.

“Having fans there too is a extra motivation when you’re playing. It adds that extra boost you sometimes need and Hyde get a really good crowd home and away.”

The defender added: “I think from a physical point of view, it’s really demanding and it’s a different test as opposed to playing an U21s match.

“So, for me to be playing and training against older and bigger men and have that aggressiveness, it can only help my development long-term.”

Turner is one of two Clarets on loan with United with goalkeeper Waller also spending time with the Tigers and the former Stoke City youngster says the pair were welcomed into the group with open arms.

“It’s good having us both there, I think. Obviously going there on your own it can be difficult at first to settle in properly but I’ve got Sam and we have both been welcomed in since the start.

“It’s a top group that we have Hyde, the players, staff and fans have all been amazing with us both since we got here.”
