Sheffield United
The Blades joined Burnley in the Premier League this season after securing a 2nd place finish under Paul Heckingbottom last campaign in the Championship.
United initially returned to the top-flight in 2019 after the Blades ended a 12-year absence before relegation to the Championship in 2021.
Following United’s promotion back to the Premier League this summer, a couple of the key figures from the side departed in the summer as Sander Berge joined the Clarets, Iliman Ndiaye signed for Marseille, Enda Steven’s moved to Stoke City and Billy Sharp ended his eight year stay with the Club.
The South Yorkshire side replaced them with the arrivals of Cameron Archer from Aston Villa, Gustavo Hamer signed from Coventry City, Auston Trusty from Arsenal and Vini Souza from Lommel SK.
Form Guide
The Clarets head into this weekend’s meeting with the Blades hoping to secure a first home win of the season after last Saturday’s cruel late defeat to the Hammers.
Kompany’s side will be hoping to mirror a similar result to last season at Turf Moor when the Clarets defeated Heckingbottom’s side 2-0
The Blades are still yet to win away from home this season but picked up their first point on the road prior to the international break earlier this month with a 1-1 draw at Brighton.
United currently sit a point above the Clarets in the league table after a win and two draws in their opening 13 Premier League fixtures.
What Vincent Kompany said
“When we played this game last year both teams were at the top of the league, so it’s a completely different mindset.
“With both of us down at the bottom, it just shows the reality of what we’re facing this season. But Luton also came up and they’re ahead of us.
“Sheffield United have been in close games and couldn’t get it over the line, so we’re experiencing something similar.
“The biggest thing is to turn this game into something valuable. We’re at home with the support of our fans, so we want to get the result. That’s key for us.”
