Goalscorers delighted with first home win

Burnley’s emphatic 5-0 win over Sheffield United on Saturday afternoon saw Jacob Bruun Larsen and Luca Koleosho both net their first goals at Turf Moor.

Bruun Larsen, who made his first Premier League start for the home side, made it 2-0 in the 29th minute and Koleosho made it four in the 75th.

When asked how they felt to get on the scoresheet Koleosho said: “It felt amazing, just seeing them go in and hopefully there’s more to come.

“I mean I just had to take the opportunity given to me and I’m just happy I was able to end the game with a goal.”

Bruun Larsen meanwhile, was pleased to make his Premier League starting debut and see his first half goal contribute to the team’s success.

“It meant everything. It’s my first start, as Luca said you want to take the opportunity when you get it. So, yes really happy that I could score and help the team.

“It felt great, you always want to play as a player. I was really looking forward to this game as well. We’ve done well and I felt like it was the right timing so yeah really happy.”

Life in the Premier League has been challenging for the Clarets, who despite many positive performances have found points hard to come by and Koleosho feels the displays have meant points were on the way.

“I mean like I said before, everyone in this team believes in each other and we knew that through all the training, hard work and everything, that we were going to get points and we deserved to pick up points. We’re happy to get our first points at home and I know that the fans are really happy, we’re really happy and hopefully we can just build off this momentum.”

The Turf Moor crowd had five goals across the 90 minutes to enjoy and Bruun Larsen was delighted to be able to celebrate with the home fans.

“Yeah definitely. We know it’s been tough, not only for us but also for them, especially last week so yeah, it’s a relief. Just really happy.”

The Clarets now head into a busy week with a midweek trip to the Midlands to take on Wolves and a visit to Brighton next weekend. When asked what confidence today’s 5-0 win will bring ahead to those two games Koleosho replied: “Hopefully it brings a lot to us. We’re happy that we won but we know that as soon as tomorrow happens its back to square one. We have to focus on Wolves and even after Wolves we have to focus on Brighton. So, hopefully we can just build off the win, keep level-headed and just go out and try and win.”

Finally, it may have been cheers come the full-time whistle but Bruun Larsen states the hard work starts again tomorrow.

“Oh yes there’s no resting, today we can celebrate and tomorrow we prepare again.”
