Clarets head into the fourth round of the Adobe Women FA Cup
Burnley FC Women travelled down to Warwickshire on Sunday afternoon, where they faced Coundon Court Ladies at the Your Co-op Community Stadium. The Clarets secured the victory with a final result of 11-0.
Rebecca Sawiuk’s side had four different goal scorers, as Aimee Kelly, Brenna McPartlan and Laura Elford bagged a hat-trick, and Millie Ravening secured two goals.
Naomi Hartley made her debut as she come on after the break.
First Half
The Clarets started off on the front foot as they placed instant pressure on Coundon’s defence. Alethea Paul had the first chance of the afternoon when she picked the ball up outside the box, from a far distance, and took a strike on target but the ball landed into the palms of Megan Donohoe.
Kelly opened the scoring, as Amaya Coleman-Evans sent her the ball which she weaved into open space within the area, she fired the ball straight into the bottom corner leaving Donohoe no chance.
McPartlan got put on the scoresheet four minutes later when she sprinted past Alisha Higginson and precisely hammered the ball 25 yards out, which flew straight through the middle of the net.
Ravening soon followed when she picked up a looped assist from Coleman-Evans in the middle of the box, controlled the ball by her chest and then put her powerful volley into the top corner.
Elford found the back of the net when Leah Embley utilised the wing when she dribbled past Demi Booth. She made a high cross into the box where Elford got into perfect position as she headed above Donohoe’s reach.
Ravening bagged her second goal as she stormed into the box leaving Tash Miles behind, she slotted the ball from close-range straight in between Donohoe and the near post, which left the score 5-0 at the break.
Second Half
Kelly found her second goal when McPartlan took a fierce strike 20 yards out straight towards goal, which slammed against the crossbar where she found the rebound and placed the ball into the back of the net.
Kelly secured herself a hat-trick when Lizzy Hamer made an excellent cross, Kelly did well to find the ball and moved into an open space unmarked, she effortlessly glided the ball through Donohoe’s legs.
Elford got her second goal after the break, as she chipped the ball on target towards the net, despite Donohoe doing well to make the catch, she fell backwards over the home side’s line.
Lizzy Hamer crossed in a high ball over Demi Booth, which McPartlan connected with and her header found the back of the net.
McPartlan then secured her hat-trick, as Paul made a great pass towards her into the area, and she aimed the ball straight into the middle of the net.
Elford was rewarded with her hat-trick and closed the scoring, when she entered into open space and fired straight into the bottom corner as she mislead Donohoe.
