U21s defender joins Blackpool

Burnley U21s defender Dan Sassi has today joined Sky Bet League One club Blackpool on a permanent transfer for an undisclosed fee.

The centre-back initially joined the Clarets on scholarship terms from Stoke City in July 2020, before penning a three-year professional contract in the summer of 2022.

After impressing in the U18s set up the 19-year-old progressed into Andy Farrell’s U21s squad, which he has captained for the last 18 months.

He has also been afforded the opportunity to train with Vincent Kompany’s men’s team on several occasions.

Yet to make his senior debut, Sassi will now link up with Neil Critchley’s Tangerines who are eighth in the League One Table, just four points off the play-offs.
