Clarets boss reflects on Selhurst Park result

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany says there are no excuses after losing 3-0 at Crystal Palace.

Josh Brownhill’s sending off just after the half hour made Burnley’s task at Selhurst Park harder.

But Kompany says they need to do their talking on the pitch: “Everybody is disappointed because we knew how important this game was and playing three quarters of a game or two thirds of the game being down to ten men is really something we just couldn’t afford today. But I don’t want to portray that we are making excuses.”

“The biggest thing for me is that we show it on the pitch and that’s the only thing that’s going to give us the answers we want.”

The home side scored three goals in the space of eleven second half minutes to take all three points.

While David Datro Fofana had a consolation goal ruled out late on. The result leaves Burnley eight points inside the relegation zone with 36 points left to play for.

“I can’t sugarcoat anything. We’re in a spot where the probabilities are against us.”

“It feels like everybody has written Burnley off. Well, let everyone write us off. “

“Personally in my life, I’ve never needed too many people to believe in me or in the team.”

“US believing is enough and the fans have got that.”

“In the end, we’ve got to make it happen together.”
