Andy Farrell’s team hit the road on Tuesday
Burnley U21s will be keen to return to winning ways when they take on Hull City in the Professional Development League on Tuesday evening.
The Clarets’ four-game winning run was ended by Crewe Alexandra on Good Friday, with the Railwaymen recording a 3-1 victory.
Manager Andy Farrell afforded opportunities to some of the Club’s U18s squad, including goalkeeper Lewis Forshaw and right-back Logan Carlin.
16-year-old Vernon Masara gave the team a 55th-minute lead at the Burnley Training Centre before a Tommy McDermott own goal evened the scores.
After the Clarets went down to nine men because of an injury and a dismissal the visitors then secured all three points with two late goals.
With 20 league matches under their belts Burnley sit 6th in the 11-team North section with 34 points.
Tuesday night’s opponents Hull City are just a point behind in the standings but have, importantly, earned 10 points less.
These two teams met at the County Ground in Leyland in the second week of March and the East Yorkshire outfit were 4-2 victors after getting off to a blistering start.
Nathan Tinsdale, Raj Palit and Bora Aydinlink gave them a 3-0 lead within 21 minutes but Burnley started to mount a comeback through Will Hugill and Masara.
However, Tyrell Sellars-Fleming capped a memorable afternoon for Hull in second-half stoppage time.
They come into this one in form, too having beaten Colchester United 4-1 in their last outing.
Kick-off at the Dransfield Stadium in North Ferriby (HU14 3AB) is 7pm and supporters are more than welcome to attend, with admission priced at £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.
