Alan’s notes ahead of tonight’s game
Good evening, welcome to Turf Moor for tonight’s game against Wolves. I hope you all had a lovely Easter break with your loved ones and thank you for joining us.
Due to the Easter holidays affecting the printing deadline, tonight’s programme has been produced ahead of this weekend’s trip to Stamford Bridge.
Our win over Brentford just prior to the international break was fantastic. I was so pleased the team could give you the fans, a much-needed home win and I thought it was a pleasing performance overall. I’m hoping for more of the same this evening!
It’s been a positive international break; several members of the squad have been away with their respective countries. I take great pride in so many of our players representing countries from around the globe and its fantastic development for our young, talented squad.
At the training ground Vincent and the team have been working hard as we approach the final eight, at the time of reading, games remaining. We are all under no illusion just how important the remaining fixtures are. Each is a cup final that we need to tackle.
After the win against Brentford, I’m sure you could all see just what it meant to Vincent, the players and everybody involved. The passion shone through. It means everything. And we’re going to fight every step of the way.
At tonight’s game we will be recognising Autism Acceptance Week which runs from the 2nd – 8th April. It’s a cause that’s close to our hearts and we’re keen to raise awareness of the important work the National Autistic Society is carrying out every day.
Autistic people face discrimination and barriers across all sectors of society – in the health and social care systems, in education, in employment, and everywhere in between. The charity believes it’s crucial that autistic people, and their families and carers, can access tailored information, guidance and support to overcome those barriers, along with opportunities to explore their interests, develop skills and build friendships for fulfilled lives.
Ahead of kick-off the players will be warming up in Autism Acceptance Week branded t-shirts and their match worn shirts will be auctioned afterwards, with all funds raised donated to the National Autistic Society.
Finally, it’s under a month now until the women’s team play Liverpool Feds at Turf Moor on Sunday 21st April. It’s going to be a great occasion with fun activities for all the family, so I would encourage all Clarets to come along and make it a day to remember.
We have another tough test ahead of us tonight against Wolves and we’re going to need your support. Let’s make sure the team know we’re right behind them, we’re in this together.
UTC!
Alan
