A MESSAGE FROM THE MANAGER

Vinny’s notes ahead of tonight’s game

Hello again,

I hope you enjoyed the Easter weekend!

We’d like to welcome Gary O’Neil and all his team from Wolverhampton Wanderers today.

Because of the early print deadlines for your match programme, I’ve had to write these notes before our trip to Chelsea so can’t tell you how we did at Stamford Bridge.

While we always look forward to the next match, it’s fair to remind ourselves of the many positives we took from our last game here at Turf Moor and a well-deserved win against Brentford.

The second goal very much summed up the story of our season so far.

We lost the ball on the edge of their box in a really good position and the next thing we knew they had gone on the transition, heading towards our goal and a one on one with our goalkeeper! But Vitinho’s sixty yards sprint to win the ball back and set us off in the other direction again for David to score what was ultimately the winning goal was wonderful!

Just like our season so far, it wasn’t perfect – but we keep fighting. It’s the kind of energy that we need to keep running throughout the club.

The three points were a reward for the perseverance and hard work all the way to the final whistle and it was great to see everyone leave our stadium with smiles on their faces.

As we enter the final run into the climax of this Premier League season, we will continue to give everything to keep them there!

We also find it rewarding when our players head out on international duty, and plenty did that over the last fortnight.

Being called up to represent your home country is always an honour, not just for the player but for the club also.

Recognition at the highest level reflects the dedication from the players and hopefully makes you prouder than ever of their achievements.

Finally, as you know I’m not one for personal awards as we work as a team here but, it was great to see Lyle Foster recognised on this year’s Football Black List. Highlighted for his efforts and honesty off the pitch as well as on it.

The love and support Lyle has been shown across the football community and beyond, as he continues his recovery, has been humbling.

Enjoy the match!

Vinny
