MATCH PREVIEW: EVERTON V BURNLEY

April 6, 2024 6:40 pm

Clarets head to Merseyside to take on the Toffees

Burnley head to Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon (3pm) as the Clarets look to extend their unbeaten league run to five matches against Sean Dyche’s Everton side.

Vincent Kompany’s team have picked up six points from the last four games heading into the weekend, following a win over Brentford and draws against West Ham, Chelsea and Wolves.

Most recently on the road was the 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge last weekend, as the Clarets came from behind twice to ensure the East Lancashire side returned home with a point.

Burnley will be backed by another sell-out away crowd on Merseyside as we head into the final seven games of the 2023/24 season.

Form guide

The Clarets head into the weekend four games unbeaten, after drawing 1-1 with Wolves on Tuesday night at Turf Moor as Jacob Bruun Larsen’s impressive opener was cancelled out by Rayan Ait-Nouri’s equaliser on the stroke of half-time.

Burnley took a point from Chelsea last weekend at Stamford Bridge, after beating Brentford 2-1 at home and drawing at West Ham prior to the March international break.

Everton are currently on a 13 match winless run in the league, with the Toffees’ last victory in the campaign coming against the Clarets back in December at Turf Moor.

Dyche’s side drew 1-1 at St James’ Park on Tuesday evening thanks to a late Dominic Calvert-Lewin penalty, with the Blues losing to Bournemouth, Manchester United and West Ham before then.

What Vincent Kompany said

“Every Premier League game is tough, there are no easy games. We just have to prepare to the best we can and be aware of their strengths and and seize the opportunities we get.

“We play it like any other Premier League game, there is only so much we can control. We just need to be ready on the day to take on the fight and we have a team that is willing to do that.

“Playing at Goodison Park, a big atmosphere, these are the type of games that you want to play and that the team will be well up for, I’m sure of.”
