A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN

Alan’s notes ahead of today’s game

Good afternoon and welcome back to Turf Moor for this afternoon’s game against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Naturally, like many of you I was disappointed with the result at Goodison Park last weekend. I thought we showed great signs during the game and were unlucky not to come away with anything when the final whistle went.

I echo Vincent’s words post-match. The season is not over, we will keep going and we will fight in our remaining six fixtures.

Yes, we have faced setbacks at times this season but what’s important is how we react, the character and determination we show. Together, we go again.

Today’s game at Turf Moor is a dedicated Premier League No Room For Racism fixture.

No Room For Racism is a key date in the calendar and a campaign we as a football club fully support. I’m proud that we can join the league and other clubs to send a clear message that discrimination will not be tolerated in football or wider society. Diversity makes our game stronger, it’s something that should be celebrated and encouraged.

Education around this topic is incredibly important. The Club recently held an Academy wide poetry competition in which our young players from the Foundation Phase (U9-U11) were tasked with writing a poem about diversity and fighting discrimination.

I want to say a big well done to Theo from our U10s team, whose fantastic poem was selected as winner.

A video of Theo’s poem, read by himself, Vincent, the players and staff from across the Club, will be shared on the big screen and across our social media channels in the lead up to the game.

At Burnley Football Club we’re committed to tackling discrimination of any form and will continue to work hard to break barriers and ensure Turf Moor is inclusive and welcoming to all.

This week we also announced the exciting news that JJ and Kealia will be representing Burnley FC at The Soccer Tournament (TST) in North Carolina in June. JJ and Kealia will both headline our men’s and women’s teams respectively and they will be joined by a few familiar faces.

It’s all set to be a fantastic tournament and I’m looking forward to seeing the Burnley flag flown stateside.

Now we only have three home games left before the end of the season. Let’s make them special and make Turf Moor a fortress!

Enjoy the game everybody.

UTC!
