MATCH PREVIEW: SHEFFIELD UNITED V BURNLEY

April 20, 2024 10:05 am

Clarets travel to Yorkshire to face the Blades

Burnley head to Bramall Lane on Saturday afternoon (3pm) as Vincent Kompany’s side take on Sheffield United looking to continue their recent run of form after losing just once in the last six Premier League games.

The Clarets have secured seven points from those last six games and will be aiming to add to that tally when Burnley visit Yorkshire this weekend.

Kompany will return to the dugout against the Blades after serving a one-match suspension against Brighton last time out following his dismissal at Stamford Bridge.

Burnley will be supported by another sell-out away crowd in Sheffield as we prepare for the final five games of the 2023/24 campaign.

Where to watch?

Tickets for the match are all sold out and are unavailable to purchase online or at the ticket office.

The game will not be streamed on Clarets+ due to Premier League rules and regulations and is not available on any of Sky Sports, TNT or Amazon Prime in the UK.

Form guide

The Clarets head to Bramall Lane in fairly strong form after taking seven points from the last six games with a win over Brentford and draws with West Ham, Chelsea, Wolves and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Last time out the Clarets drew 1-1 with the Seagulls after Josh Brownhill’s opener was cancelled out by an unfortunate own goal a few minutes later.

The Blades have picked up two points from their last eight games and United are yet to win at Bramall Lane in 2024, with Chris Wilder’s side’s last win coming at the beginning of February in a 3-1 win over Luton Town.

United lost 2-0 to Brentford last weekend but the Yorkshire side managed to claim a point in their last home game following a 2-2 draw with Chelsea.

What Vincent Kompany said

“Sheffield is another different game for us, it has a bit of a cup final feeling to it as well. We know we have to go there, attack the game and show no fear.

“They’ve (Sheffield United) always been a tough team to play, we played them last year and this year and we have had some really good games against each other.

“We’re both in the Premier League for a reason. They have a strong team with players that can make the difference in games which showed last season too.

“Going there on Saturday, we have nothing to lose. We approach it with no fear, we have to show our strengths and go there to play our hearts out & run our socks off. We’re playing to be in the Premier League and that’s our goal.”
