Clarets keeper reflects on brilliant Blades victory

Aro Muric put in a stellar performance in Saturday’s win over Sheffield United, helping Vincent Kompany’s men secure three valuable points on the road.

The 25-year-old was called into action early making several crucial saves and speaking post-match he was happy with the team’s performance and spoke of his focussed mindset heading into the remaining games.

“I’m feeling good. It was a nice win away from home. We deserved the win so we’re going to keep going and take some more points.”

It was a busy afternoon for the Kosovan who made several stops including from close range against Oli McBurnie and Ben Brereton Diaz. However he said it was all in a day’s work!

“Yes, it’s my job so! Today it went well and I’m happy that I could save some goals and we could take the win.”

Burnley managed the game well and despite some early Blades chances it was the Clarets who took a two goal lead into the break. With the Blades having had a few big moments to get themselves ahead did the two goals from teammates Jacob Bruun Larsen and Lorenz Assignon come at a good time to stamp some authority on the battle?

“Of course. The two goals gave us the lead so we could breathe a little bit as they played really well. They pushed at home. So, it was good.”

Gustavo Hamer halved the deficit to 2-1 in the second half, how happy was Muric with the Clarets response to the goal?

“Yes, I think we did really well, we didn’t have déjà vu like last time when we came here. This time we put our heads together, we managed the game and we found a way to kill the game off.”

There’s been lots of discussion around the Clarets keeper in recent fixtures as the team fight for vital Premier League points. Under such scrutiny how does he stayed focussed and keep a positive mindset?

“I just do my thing, like last season! I just came in, I didn’t play for long. But I’m happy. I didn’t have any worries, came in straight away it was ok. I have to have a focussed mindset.”

That mindset is going to be important as Burnley approach the final four games of the season, with two home and two away trips to go and Muric says the team are full of belief.

“I think we as a team you can see after every game the energy’s back, we believe in it every day, it’s not just saying it. Everyone looks like we believe in it, we had some good games in the previous games, and I think we’ll be good. We’re going to do it I think.”
