‘A CITY BY THE SEA’ – SAFC’S 2025-26 Away Shirt Revealed

Sunderland AFC is proud to unveil the Club’s 2025-26 hummel away shirt – the first kit launch of the summer ahead of our return to the Premier League.

Set for its top-flight debut, the shirt reimagines our iconic 1989-91 away kit, as worn by Marco Gabbiadini and Eric Gates during an unforgettable era for the Lads.

Paying tribute to Sunderland’s proud maritime identity, the kit features a bespoke pattern inspired by the view of the Roker Beach lighthouse from through the ‘C‘ Sculpture, woven into the fabric to reflect the City’s deep connection to the sea.

‘City by the Sea’ is stitched into the back of the neck, while the inside collar features a poetic nod to our coastal home with lyrics from The Lake Poets:

‘Yes, I come from a city by the sea
and its shores and its waters
have become a part of me’

The 2025-26 away shirt lands online and in-store at 8am on Friday 4 July, and supporters are invited to join us at the Stadium of Light store for a morning of launch activity.

Please note that away mini kits will not be available to purchase at launch. Details regarding a pre-order window will be shared in due course.

Goalkeeper kits will be available to purchase online from Friday afternoon.

This season’s fully bespoke matchday collection also includes a striking away anthem jacket, warm-up tee, and pre-match quarter-zip – all Premier League ready.

Fans can also explore a brand-new lifestyle range, including beach shorts perfect for summer holidays and a smart new polo shirt – blending performance and everyday wear in true Wearside style.

New for 2025-26, a selection of unsponsored kits will once again be available across all three kits – including the away shirt.

Premier League sleeve patches, player names, and squad numbers will be available online and in-store. Supporters are reminded that all printing is subject to change ahead of the new campaign.

Produced using hummel’s ECO8 technology, the shirt is made from eight recycled plastic bottles, allowing our players – and fans – to perform at their best while championing sustainability.

Our Principal Partner W88 features front and centre on all adult shirts, while Utilita once again sponsors all junior and infant kits.

In addition to shopping online, fans can visit the Stadium Store seven days a week:

Monday to Saturday: 9am – 6pm
Sunday: 10am – 4pm

Please note: The Stadium Store will open early at 8am on Friday 4 July for launch day.
